About WishRadar

We can't, for the life of us, understand why you even care, but all the cool kids have a page like this, and we're sheep when you get right down to it.

WishRadar is the brainchild of Jonathan Nolen, David Mankin, and Jason Carmel. We met in the early 1990s at college and managed to reconnect a few years later in order to run a dot com business into the ground. Gluttons for punishment, we thought it would be fun to do it all again.

All three of us have day jobs at reasonably respectable software or web thingies. This is a hobby. Jonathan (a software engineer) was annoyed at the way his wish list worked on Amazon and thought he could do something about it. David (a software engineer) was looking for an excuse to learn Ruby on Rails and had nothing better to try it on when Jonathan brought it up. And Jason (not a software engineer) was naively hoping for riches beyond his wildest dreams and jumped on this opportunity, having obviously given it no real thought at all. After we confirmed that we really had no idea what we were doing, we were joined by Brian Donovan who, in a glorious and ultimately fortunate misjudgment of character, thought we'd be stable, knowledgeable partners, and has been pitching in code-wise ever since.

Where did the name "WishRadar" come from? Honestly, we can't really remember how now. It seems like it had modest relevance to what we wanted — a service that tracks things for us and alerts us when those things are close enough for us to do something about it. In the end, we stuck with it because the domain name was available. Sorry if that kills the romance for you.

If you'd like to contact us for any reason, please feel free. We may not get back to you.
